Powering 2 DC Motors in Series

Hi,

I learned about using the relay module to power DC motors. Can you connect two DC motors in series on the relay module? Here is a picture of the schematic of two DC motors in series connected to two relays to change directions.

Thank you.

Yes you can connect motors in series.

If you connect motors in series neither will have good speed regulation - its much more sensible to
parallel DC motors.

Are you thinking you have to put them in series because the motor driver is 6V and the motors are
nominally 3V?

What motors and motor driver are we talking about?

Each DC motors are 1.5 - 3 volts. They are connected to a 4-relay module. So is it better to connect those motors in a parallel circuit? I am using the relay module to switch directions of the spin of the DC motors. Here is a picture of the DC motor and the 4-relay module with the schematic of the parallel circuit of two DC motors connected to it. Is the parallel circuit better?

Yes that will work. They will both then have well defined speed/load curves that don't interfere with
each other (assuming the battery can handle the current - that's something to get right, motors pull
lots of current, don't be stingy powering them)

Thank you!
