Problems with esp01 CH340 programmer with DIYMORE?

I just bought 5 USB CH340 USB programmers for ESP8266 from the manufracturer DIYMORE. They don't work. (On severaI computers, Arduino IDE 2.3.3)
I always used USB CH340 USB programmers from the manufracturer Open Smart. They always work. What can be the problem?
When we look to both programmers, there is a significant difference in the layout. One component is missing in the DIYMORE programmer. See picture!

I noticed that (necessary for successful programming) the voltage on GPIO2 is low, while it should be high. And the voltage on CH_PD is also low, while it should be high. GPIO0 voltage is low or high, depending on the switch, as expected. My computer detects the device correctly and suggests the correct COM-port.
Could it be that this is due to a wrong batch of PCBs?
Why does the DIYMORE version not need the component that we see on the Open Smart version?

If only it weren't so blurry as to make identification of the missing component possible.

Umm, the missing component? The better question is whether the failing unit is good for anything, or if you've found a use case where it is inadequate.

These days it would not surprise me to learn the bad unit is useless in any deployment scenario.

I have a couple of ESP-01 programmers which look identical to the one in post 1 which in your case does not work - both mine work OK (both labeled @diymore.cc USB to ESP-01 adapter) can program and run code on ESP-01
the ESP-01 programmer I mainly use is the ESP-01 Helper V3 (ESP8266 module programmer/development board) - no changing switches between program and run and it has a clone socket for attaching sensors etc

I was having the same problem with this recorder for esp 01 from the manufacturer Diymore, so I made a small adaptation. I soldered a 10k resistor between CH_EN (chip enable) and VCC and now it is working both in PROGRAMMING mode and in UART mode.
