Project ideas- I'm out

I'm a beginner and I currently cant think of any project ideas, if you have any please tell me.

I suggest you get a copy of the Arduino Cookbook and skim it cover to cover. There are a lot of projects there and you should find several that peak your interest.

An MCU using a couple sonic sensors to home in on mosquitoes guiding a laser system. There should also be a flip switch for a common Gull mode. Will it be ready for this year's common Gull / mosquitoes season?

Some home automation is common trigger of interest..

It depends on what you're interested in (and if it's possible with a microcontroller).

My "thing" is sound activated lighting. It's something I've played around with since before microcontrollers....

There are all kinds of things you can do, especially with addressable LED strips. If you search for "music visualizer" or "Arduino spectrum analyzer" you can find some examples.

If that interests you, take a look at my World's Simplest Lighting Effect. That should get you started and beyond that you are only limited by your imagination!

I haven't made a spectrum analyzer but I've made several other effects including a "giant VU meter" (8-fet tall). I didn't "publish" that project but it's not too hard to figure out once you can read/input audio and control LEDs. (And of course, there's more than one way to do it.)

All of my lighting effects use the same concept as the "simplest effect" to find the average (or sometimes the peak) so they automatically calibrate to the sound level. That means my VU meter isn't any kind of useful "meter" but I get lot's of LED action with the loud parts going to the top, no matter how loud the overall volume is...
