I want to be able to move a servo arm using a remote control. The servo needs to move up and down. You can buy rc servos which you can attach straight to a transmitter or you could wire the servo to an arduino and program the rc to respond to a controller. What method is best to use?
Wiring the servo to directly to an arduino is the simplest option, but it may not qualify as 'remote control' wiring the arduino to a RC transmitter and then wiring a receiver to the servo will allow it to be controlled remotely.
Are you talking about a standard RC transmitter with twin stick or a steering wheel and trigger or some other type of transmitter?
Apart from the need of a power source and a suitable transmitter you can get RC receivers quite cheap (less than the price of an Arduino)
