Recommend me a rotary encoder.

Hello everyone!
Im new here.

I would like to ask for you help at choosing a suitable rotary encoder for my custom midi controller.

What i want is something as smooth as the akai miniak potentiometers which are clickless and smooth and seem to give something like 100 steps per turn.

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards.

Here's one that yields 400P/R.

Those are very low friction and relative. There are some 128 position absolute rotary encoders designed for front panels I've used before, currently on a phone so not easy to find the link, but Bournes was the manufacturer i think

This one seems really good but rather bulky to mount in a panel. Also something cheapier would be preffered as im going to need 36 of them for my project.

Would you have a different suggestion?

Thank you!

Id be very interested in that. Would you please look for them?

Thank you.

I found these ones http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/54/ce-777357.pdf
I wonder if those are the ones you meant MarkT.

How would those stack up against the ones proposed by Arctic_Eddie.

Thank you!
