Hello I am doing a project of a robot that scans the room and needs to map and find objects. Up until now I have used an ultrasonic sensor but since the objects it needs to find are small and not straight (a cylindrical shape with a radius of about 4 cm) then at a distance of 80 cm it no longer recognizes them. There is also a problem that when the sensor rotates it detects the object even if it is not directly in front of it (20 degree deviation). I want to buy a more accurate sensor for a range of up to 3 meters. Do you :recommend this VL53L1X sensor

If not, I would appreciate recommendations on a suitable sensor at a not too expensive price.
thank you!
I have used the vl53L0x, vl53l1x and VL6180X TOF sensors - the vl53l1x should work Ok for your application
very easy to interface to microcontrollers using I2C and the vl53l1x-arduino library
I am also planning to buy such a component for a similar purpose, I would appreciate hearing more opinions about its accuracy and ease of operation.

for details have a look at pololu VL53L1X Time-of-Flight Distance Sensor
