I am trying to make RGB LED strips reactive to sound. I am first trying to test out that all of the colors work on the strip, but for some reason red specifically isn't working. I followed the following Ada fruit guide. I recreated the circuit and copy and pasted the code. My gradient skips over red and only switches between blue and green.
The only time the red works is when I take out the green and blue power.

Sounds like a wiring error, but we can't see your picture.
You can add the picture to your post by clicking "attachments and other options" then "choose files". To insert the pic into your post, post/save it, right-click on the attachment, copy link address, edit your post, click the insert picture icon and paste the address in.

Given that ther is no power connection to the colours only a ground connection there is something that you are not understanding here.
So like Paul says we need more details. How many LEDs in your strip? Transistor or FET driver? Photo of your wiring? What power supply are you using?
