Running an NTP server at home

I would like to use an ESP8266 or ESP32 at home to run as a local NTP Server for my other devices. Internet connects are not always available. Will use an RTC to maintain an accurate local time.
Hhow do I even start :thinking:

RTCs can drift quite a bit, how are you going to correct it.

Get a (real) DS3231 breakout board and keep it at a constant temperature.

I have two that lose more than a minute per hour, but have two that seem to maintain an acceptable degree of accuracy.

Can you please be more speciffic about what you suggest?

Another source of accurate time is GPS if you have access to the sky in your location. A Raspberry Pi PicoW might be a good choice for a server platform.

Actually, if you need a true NTP server, you'll probably want to use a computer with an OS like a Raspberry Pi or equivalent.
