Running two small round screens to loop Video/Gif's

Hello Everybody!

I've not done much with arduino yet, went through a few of the tutorials with the basic Uno kit but didnt have a project in mind at the time so stopped playing with it.

I've got an idea to run a couple of round screens behind the lenses of a pair of steam punk goggles just to loop either video's or gif's. Im guessing this is something that could be done with arduino but to be honest im not sure where to start with it. I've looked around at a few 1.5" tft screens but there are a few different connection types so i figure asking on here is the best place to start.

Any help on what i would need or if anyone has done a similar kind of project and willing to help that would be great. Also with the programming side of it.. i was gunna just search around and hope i can find a tutorial for something i can adapt for this application.

Thanks in advance!

Rich.

You guessed wrong.

A Teensy is possibly just capable of this but you are pushing the proverbial uphill. The data rates required for videos are huge.

Look at it this way: about the fastest interface available is SPI.
At best, it can manage 8MHz, or one million bytes per second, peak.
You have to read that data from somewhere, and write it somewhere else, so now you're down to 500000 bytes per second, peak.
For smooth animation, you need to divide this by 25, so about 20000 bytes per frame, peak. If it is colour, furher divide by two (5:5:5 colour) or three (8:8:8 colour) and you arrive at about an 80x80 pixel image, at the very best.
