Seeking assistance in designing a mini water heater, I'll pay you for your help

Hi There,

I'm a total noob but am researching a lot. As the title states, I'm looking to pay someone to coach me in creating a mini temperature controlled water heater small enough to fit in your pocket. I need the temperature to maintain around 37© and stay warm for up to 60-90 minutes.

So far I have bought a pro mini 5v and a nano 5v. A 12v W3230 temperature controller (this is quite large so might switch to a smaller temp controller), one 12v 40w cartridge heating element to act as immersion heater,12v 30000mah lipo and a buck converter to step down from 12v to 5v for the Arduino. I read that the regulators aren't the best on the Nano/Pro Mini that's why I got the buck.

I'll find some sort of vessel and drill holes underneath to insert the cartridge heater, not sure where to position the thermocouple for an accurate reading. I also wasn't sure what the draw rate would be but got a battery voltage that matched all components except the Nano or Pro Mini and fairly high mah, (I'm not sure how big the battery is yet as it's coming from China, it looked relatively small in the photos).

Not sure if I need a relay or the temp control acts as one, I read relays are a bit noisy when they operate but mosfets aren't so not sure what to buy if needed.

Ideally I'd like an on/off switch that when I turn it on it heats to the set 37©.

Once I know what hardware I'll need I'll start researching coding, if you'd like to assist in helping me write it that would be nice but no stress.

Finally I'll design some sort of casing and have it 3D printed.

Could pay you half during project and half after.

Am I on the right track here or am I dribbling bs?

You realize that these devices sell for ~ 10€ ?
Anyway, what's the budget?

Really? I've found similar products like the Sidekick For Me but they refuse to send to Australia as customs seizes them for some reason.

Budget as in paying you or for the hardware? No budget really, just sussing the cost, maybe max of 150£. I think I've bought most of the components needed?

Thanks for the response.

I sent you a PM.

I don't understand. If you already have a temperature controller, then what else do you need help with? If it's because that's an A/C controller, then you can use 12V ones like these: https://www.amazon.com/Twidec-Temperature-Controller-Programmable-Thermostat/dp/B092H3WSZX/

If size is an issue then that's different. I can build one that's as small as needed: the only limiting factor will be the battery size. But the size of the actual controller can be miniscule: temperature is the most frequently controlled property. The number of temperature controllers on the market numbers in the tens of thousands and they come at all sizes and power levels off the shelf.

You can also purchase temperature switches that will control a heater. here's an example of a 35C temperature switch IC that fits on your thumbnail. It will need an external transistor to drive a heater, but it's shown as an example of how huge this market is; MAX6501UKP035+T Analog Devices Inc. | Sensors, Transducers | DigiKey

Hey,

If you could make one identical to this and does all the same functions that would be awesome.

I'm not using it for what the website advertises, that is just exactly what I want. The company won't send to Australia as our customs kept seizing them so was looking for someone to build one and send it as a mini water heater.

Had another guy quote me $200 to make and send to Aus. He's gonna 3D print it and everything. Could you beat that price?

Cheers

Frazer

Nope.

Just for the record: the 150£ from post#3 turned out to be 90£ with 40£ actually to be payed.

Good deal!

I don't get what the mentioned Sidekick is meant for. Is it for using someone else's urine to pass a drug test so it will be the proper temperature? Does Donald Trump have one that he uses when he can't go to Russia? I don't get it.

That's my guess. It would also explain why Customs is blocking it.

Yes ... just wondering who will take it

I'm curious what OP's application is since it's not for what the manufacturer intends. For example, if I had a 37ºC cup of coffee, I'd pour it out.

The website implies it's for "Golden Shower" use, but its most likely for drug test avoidance.

Generation 4 included the new “Squirt” models for natural urine stream at the push of a button.
Generation 5 made 3 ounce models run for 4 hours.

What do you want to use it for ? Piss heater, for cheating?

Your suspicions are warranted.

I intend to use it for urine kink play, but someone who lives with chronic pain from a neurological disorder might use it to circumvent workplace urine testing so they can use their medicinal cannabis prescribed to them, which they could use prior to their HR department changing their Drug And Alcohol Policy on them inhibiting use in their deskjob, not operating any heavy machinery.
