The famous Nano sensor shield is unable to run servos because of power capacity. however, I saw this upgrade by one maker. I need some advice if this is safe to provide exta external power the way shown here. I am not using batteries, instead i m adding power from an external switching power supply fixed at 5V / 6 Amps. Is there any danger to the arduino or the two regulators one on nano and one on the shield. ??
Hi,
Have you got one of those shields?
Can you please post a link to specs/data, it may include a schematic of the shield so we can give an accurate answer?
Do you have a DMM?
The shield my have a switch or jumper to switch between internal or external servo supply.
Thanks.. Tom..
Any risk of damage is down to power demand, not power supply. I don't know how good the regulators are on a nano, but with that sort of power, you are probably better off powering both off the external 5v and bypassing the on-board regulators anyway.
