Sensors to locate position

Happy new year.
I am looking for some recommendations on small sensors that can transmit position, preferably in 3-D space. This is for an internal project that I need to mount on a moving device and track the coordinates.
I would like to get accurate measurements.
Appreciate any pointers.

That's better !

Try Posyx.

And a hint, you might know what you mean by 'accurate' ..............

Thanks. I will take a look. I am looking at +/- 0.05 mm accuracy.

Extremely expensive, and not at all small.

What is your plan to verify that accuracy?
I just finished a project where I had to prepare the ends of 8 pieces of coaxial cable with cuts at 4mm and then 8mm. I had to machine two fixtures to fit the coax into 4mm and then 8mm holes for trimming. Otherwise the trimming was +- 1mm off.
I bet you have no way of such consistent measuring as you require.

And over what range of distances? - "Indoor" = toilet/closet to arena 1m to 1km

Just within a given room.

The feedback from the sensor triggers the movement of another object. The accuracy is measured by the position of the resulting object.

Please explain how that will show you +-0.05mm accuracy. May be useful for future projects.

Very clear, thanks for sharing.

The object is controlled using an actuator. Actuators are pretty accurate - https://www.tolomatic.com/info-center/resource-details/accuracy-repeatability-linear-motion-systems#:~:text=Accuracy%20refers%20to%20the%20ability,the%20actual%20position%20achieved.&text=Each%20of%20these%20elements%20influences,of%20a%20linear%20actuator%20system.

Hi,

Does the actuator have some position feedback built in?

Can you post link to Make and Model number data/specs please?

Thanks.. Tom... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

I have not really zeroed in but this is something I was considering - Actuonix PQ12-P Micro Linear Actuators With Feedback
