Open ended double arm
Further to post #905, Make a double arm for your ‘High Boy’ stand.
The closed and silver soldered narrow oval arm discussed in the above post can be made differently.
The following images show an open-ended double arm which is much easier to make and is as effective or even better than the original.
The open ends are rounded over using a concaved Dremel silicon dioxide bit.
As seen before, the double arm can be slid in and out to adjust its reach; items can be easily attached with a simple: screw, washer and thumb nut, wing nut combination.
Adding a binder clip, as seen below, allows you to hold items at 90° to the surface it touches.
If the double arm height is shorter than the item it is securing, you then have that item under downward spring compression.
As a result, you can add DCM, epoxy etc. glue to join the two pieces, and letting the glue set until things dry.
There are a few more advantages of using a double arm with your High Boy Stand that will be covered in subsequent posts.
