Shocking the arduino uno board

So my arduino uno kept restarting which idk why. I have once accidentally shocked the circled part of the image with 12v creating a spark and i suspect that there is something wrong with the board. Can anyone tell me whether shocking that part of the board will cause any damage?

Sincerely,

This is capacitor on input for power so probably regulator as first line.

So does putting a 12v over it by accident destroy the board? Cause my board seems to be working weirdly gradually.

Yes, probably.

No one can tell you for certain, maybe it damaged it, maybe it didn't. The only way to know for sure is to get another one, if that works OK then your old one is damaged. If the new one has the same problem then the cause is elsewhere.

I once connected the power to a PIC the wrong way, it got very hot before I realised my mistake. When I connected it the right way it worked perfectly. No guarantee but modern electronics is pretty rugged.
