Silicon labs CP2104 VCP Driver and Mac OS X 10.12.1 Sierra

I can't get the driver to recognize the device. I'm trying to use Arduino's IDE 1.6.12 to load programs but haven't been able to select a port (other than bluetooth). It just doesn't seem to see the USB when I stick it in. Looking in the release notes it says the driver is good with up to 10.11 but doesn't list 10.12 as being compatible (updated just a few days ago it appears).

Are there plans in the works to get this driver working with 10.12.1?

Is this an issue others are noticing also?

Apple support suggested I reset my SMD using the following procedure:

1 Shut down the Mac.
2 Plug in the charger to a power source and to your Mac.
3 Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button while the other keys are still being held down.
4 Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

This, however, did not fix the issue.

I'm at a loss as to how I can the IDE to communicate with the USB so I have turned to those of you who are much smarter than me, in search of answers.

Please help!

I have found the same problem, but I have tried to use the driver with MacOSX 10.11.6 and 10.12.3 on two different machines. I think SiLabs has a problem. The driver just doesn't work on a Mac. It looks like they have done a lot of updates recently, but still don't have it working. In my case I find that the driver just does not install after running through the installation program. They say it should install into the /Library/Extensions/ folder, but there is no Library/Extensions/ folder in the first place, so I don't know where the installation program is installing the driver.
