Small display 19 pins, no datasheet.

Hello All,

I found this 19 pins display, but no datasheet or any documentation. Does anybody know what it is, if it does work with arduino? Any information is appreciated.

Thank you

That looks like a "bare" LCD panel. That is, it's just the LCD glass, which needs a driver chip to control all the segments, apply the square wave bias to the backplane, etc...

Although you probably could make that panel work with an Arduino MEGA2560 (because you need lots of pins) and an elaborate software driver to control the segments, it's WAY too impractical.

If you want to put an LCD display on your Arduino (or better yet, a VFD (vacuum florescent display - the glowing blue-green kind)), just buy a complete display.

A complete display can cost from $9.00 US for a generic 16x2 LCD up to $40 or so for a nice VFD.

These displays contain all the circuitry needed for the complex signals needed to drive a raw LCD panel. All you have to do is provide a few pins for data, read/write and chip select (or SPI).

I suggest not even bothering with the glass panel you have and instead use something like one of these:

Basic 16x2 Character LCD - Black on Green 5V - LCD-00255 - SparkFun Electronics <- 16x2 basic LCD display

Standard LCD 16x2 + extras [white on blue] : ID 181 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits <- 16x2 basic LCD display w/header pins and contrast pot included

http://www.pololu.com/product/773 <- 16x2 basic LCD display

https://www.noritake-itron.jp/eng/products/module/cu-u/16x2.htm#16025-UX <- 16x2 VFD completely HD44780 compatible, and VERY pretty bright glowing blue-green characters

Good luck.

Dear Krupski,

Thank you very much for your reply. The display is on the garbage não. I paid just $0,50 and I have no clue how to do all the things you mentioned.

Thank you again,

I think most of us have one or two of these in the drawer somewhere. XD
