Solar Powered Car

Hello.
I want to create a car.
I will use a Li-Po 7.4V Battery that it will power the L298N motor driver and the esp8266 board.
I want the battery to be able to be charged with solar panels while the car is running.
Is there a solar panel charge controller available on the market that can charge Lithium batteries (7.4V not 12V) and at the same time power the motor driver.

I found one that i like but it can only charge Lead batteries

Thank you!!

That's a very bad choice for battery powered projects. Use a modern more efficient MOSFET driver board.

Please check your assumptions. How big will a solar panel be so that it can power the car. Then add some more space to also load the battery.

Use your search skills and let us know if you find one. The only ones I've seen are for single Li cells.

You need to do the sums to check … I expect you will need a very large panel to charge the batteries enough to keep it running .

Check the motor power needed to drive the car ( with some weight added to simulate the panel ) and look for a solar panel with twice that output ( at least !). As mentioned previously , that would be my first move

Hi,

Move from ESP8266 to an ESP32 and the ESP32 can be programmed to do that too, saves on hardware.

Can you please tell us your electronics, programming, arduino, hardware experience?

Thanks.. Tom.. :+1: :coffee: :australia:

To be honest i chose L298N because its easy to use and cheap and has a lot of documentation e.t.c.
But i will check out for other drivers as well.

Still searching but i will let you know.

Alright, thanks for the advice.

Oh i didn't knew that.
Can you give me a clue? Like that to search in google e.t.c.
Because i never used esp32 before.
I don't have much experience to be honest.
I know basic electronics and programming. That's all.
Thanks.

Hello again.
I found this

Can i do the circuit below, or is it wrong?

Thank you.

So... does anybody know if it will work?

Without a data sheet nobody can know.
Perhaps the seller knows.
Find out yourself.
