Solar Powered Garden Lights

Hi

I am new to this platform and am looking to start a DIY project for my parents which involves the following, replacing my mom’s solar powered garden with adrudro powered ones my spec would be this.

  1. LED Light Strip controlled via Alexa or Google Home
  2. Powered by Solar power, that charges a battery (lipo etc)
  3. Water Proof.

Any Surgestions.

Point one will need some extra requirements. For example, the communication it uses. And if you say Wifi, I think you will need a larger solar panel  But then again, don't know how much "led strip" you plan on using but they consume two magnitudes more than a normal solar light with ease.

Aka, making a requirements list is a great idea! But I think you'll need to break it down a lot more in order to get things clear.

That would be an extremely ambitious project for a beginner.

How much experience do you have with interfacing Alexa or Google Home with DIY hardware?

@Yammers, please do not cross-post. Threads merged.

A terrific idea but a garden is likely to need many feet of LED light strip. Even if you could provide sufficient solar panels to charge sufficient batteries to supply the large amount of current required, there is still the problem of how to properly distribute the current to the LED light strip. Do some calculations and see whether what you plan can be made practical.

How long do you mean for this to run? Five minutes? All night?

The Arduino part may be the least of your problems.

Good Luck!

I would only need about 5m 1 side and 5 m the other side yes extremely challenging for a beginner but if you can buy solar panel rbg light strip of Amazon surely you should be able to do your own

That reasoning could be applied to an impressive range of products!
