Step motors not responding. Arduino Uno + grbl powered by 9V transformer & data cable

Purchased Mini CNC mill 3 axis Arduino Uno + flashed with grbl. powered by data usb and 9v. stepper motors do not work.

Is the 9V a 9V smoke alarm battery? It’s a common error.

Most likely due to a code problem, a wiring problem, a hardware problem, inadequate power supply or some combination of those.
