Hi!
I thinking about use stepper motor as encoder. For human ![]()
So I want to change some variabe, and when specific value is reached - block preventing more. It's more like just force feedback, for me, to know if value is already set. Even if I possible can rotate more. I don't need super-precise, like real encoder, but it would be nice to be close as possible.
I have also TMC2209 and theoretically it is possible to do with it. Can you point me some knowlegde, or just key phrasses to search?
You will need to update the forum on that theory!

Show us a photo of your hand-drawn wiring diagram and your code in code tags. I have a lot of steppers, and I didn't know they could be used as an input device. I am curious to see your work.
It can be done - for example here
You need some op-amps because the output of the windings in this mode is low. I would say it is easier to get a real encoder.
A stepper can also be used as a poor generator.
