Stepper motor Nema 17

Good morning,
i bought this nema 17 stepper motor:

STEPPERONLINE 3Pcs Nema 17 Stepper Motor Bipolar 42Ncm 1.5A 42x42x39mm 4 Wires with 1m Cable and Connector for 3D Printer/CNC Milling Machine, Black : Amazon.co.uk: Business, Industry & Science

Nema 17 stepper motor, holding torque 0.42Nm

unfortunately it has little power, can I increase the current of the A4988 driver or is it better that I look for another type of motor?

I have to run this tap:

What step rate are you using? What is your Vref set to now?

Can you post your test code, please? Post a schematic and photos of your wiring.

Your motor seems to be 1.5A max coil current.
The A4988 driver is good for only 1A without a heat sink and active cooling. That is for units of high quality like ones purchased from, for instance, Pololu. What is the value of the sense resistors on your driver board? That must be known in order to accurately set Vref (the current limit).

A DRV8825 is good for 1.5A without heatsink.

Any current controlling driver must have the coil current prpoerly adjusted. You do not have to set to max current. Set to the current the yields good performance without missing steps. The motor and driver will heat less and last longer.

A stepper will deliver more torque and speed with a higher voltage power supply up to the maximum allowed by the driver.

To what value did you set the current limit? You can set up to 1 Ampere/winding with the A4988 driver.

What is the voltage of the motor power supply?
