Hello,
Could somebody please try to help me identify the pins assignment in a nice stepper motor I found
It is:
NEOCENE
2T42A223
EM - 543
and it has a flat, 4 wires, cable (as in the photo enclosed)
Is there a way to know the pin assignments of this motor (phase, common)
Thank you
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Do you have a DMM, all you need to do is find the two windings, each will be 5.8 Ohms.
The phasing you can get sorted when you go to drive it.
Tom...
With all wires disconnected, spin the shaft with your fingers to see how much effort it takes, short the red wire to one of the others and spin again. Was it harder to spin? If not try red and another, if you short the 2 wires going to a coil it should be a little harder to spin, if so you've found a pair, the other pair should go to the other coil.

Works very well with bigger steppers as their mechanical resistance is bigger when you shorten a coil; in this case you must be very sensitive to feel the difference. So a multimeter, if available, would be my first choice for these little steppers.
