I am designing a vehicle tracking system and I have a SIM808 module and arduino uno. I have some problems with the powering up of SIM808 using LM2596 regulator.I connected my bike battery to the input of LM2596 buck converter and adjusted its pot. I got a 2.6 ampere output current and 9V converted DC voltage from the output of my LM2596 which I supplied as input to the SIM808. But my problem is that in few minutes my vehicle battery starts leaking acid and when I searched in google it says that leaking occurs due to over charging. Also I know that stepping down voltages would increase the current but in this case the module has a maximum output current of 3A and hence my SIM808 is safe. But during stepping down is any current fed back to the input battery and charging it?? causing it to over charge?? or is my battery leaking as it got old or damaged and nothing related to stepping down action?
Any help would be appreciated and I have attatched a connection image for your reference.
"But during stepping down is any current fed back . . . "
No
Replace the battery.
