strange stepper motor problem

Hi Arduino community,

Currently I’m working on a project with a geared stepper motor, Arduino Nano and a drv8825 stepper driver. After soldering everything together and uploading some code, the setup worked perfect. (see video 1)

some days later I got this strange problem. The stepper suddenly lost its speed. (see video 2) it’s now moving very slowly. sometimes when I restart the Nano it works perfect again. But then after restarting,it fails to work on normal speed again.

I swapped the nano and the driver with brand new ones that did not change anything.

does anybody recognize this problem?

Greetings MB

Hi,
Is the current limit set the same each time on your power supply?
Its hard to see in the second video, your problem, because you have removed the orange thing from the stepper shaft.

Can you please post a copy of your circuit, in CAD or a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png?

Thanks... Tom...

And post your Arduino program.

The motor will draw more current than the stepper driver can handle, so it is critical that you set the current limit to 1.4 - 1.5 Amperes.
