Switching low power fan with arduino nano 3.0

Hi, im looking for way to programmatically switch small 5VDC 0.08A fan ON or OFF with Nano v3.0 board. No speed control needed. What would be a best and novice friendly way to do that? Mosfet switch module feels like a "too much", maybe.

  • At only 80ma, a Low side switch (NPN BJT) or High side (PNP BJT) switch can be used.

  • Do you have an external 5V power supply ?

thanks,
yes, i have a external 2A 5VDC power supply for nano board and wanted to power fan from same supply

If the fan has a PWM control pin, you can use it only for start/stop.

I have a lot of small fans and all of them has only 3 pin (without PWM). But found small 4 pin 5VDC fan in online shop, will order and try it out. Thanks!
