Tennis ball machine- DC motor controller? or MOSFET?

Hi all! I am in the beginning stages of sourcing my components. I found a youtube video where someone made this.

I will be using an Arduino Uno to drive two 12V DC motors.

Question: why use a motor controller vs a MOSFET? The youtuber used this high power MOSFET module:

but they also have this part listed:

Do you need the speed control knob or do you want to control it with the Arduino?

The main thing is probably to make sure the controller (and power supply or battery) can supply the current (Amps) required by the motors. (Of course two motors are twice the current.)

I would control it with the Arduino. So the control knob is unnecessary.

A "motor controller" usually has an H-Bridge design so it can control motor direction as well as speed. A MOSFET is generallty less expensive but only controls speed.
