Reading Personal themes it seems easy to get them from VS marketplace, but there are no download links.
Are there themes for the IDE. If so where to get them and how to install?
Hi @ledsyn. Unfortunately Microsoft recently removed the download links from the Visual Studio Marketplace pages, which broke those instructions. I haven't found an easy way to obtain the downloads from the Visual Studio Marketplace now.
As a workaround, I can suggest the use of the alternative "Open VSX Registry" website:
You will also find a large number of VS Code theme extensions on that site, and their pages do have download links. Other than using the different website to find the themes, you can follow the rest of those instructions exactly as written.
Many of the extension authors list their extensions on the Open VSX Registry website in addition to the Visual Studio Marketplace, so the two are somewhat equivalent, but unfortunately Visual Studio Marketplace is more popular so the number of extensions on Open VSX Registry is lower. This is why I directed people to Visual Studio Marketplace before Microsoft made this unfortunate change.

Since the Theia theme is no longer around (still got it cached) I want a replacement.
Funny that the first .vsix file I downloaded was recognized straight away as an archive by Ark in Manjaro.
It is still there. You only need to enable it via the advanced settings:
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keyboard shortcut (Command+Shift+P for macOS users) to open the "Command Palette".
A menu will appear on the editor toolbar:
- Select the "Preferences: Open Settings (UI)" command from the menu.
ⓘ You can scroll down through the list of commands to find it, or type the command name in the field.
A "Settings" tab will open in the Arduino IDE main panel. - Type
workbench.colorThemein the "Search Settings" field of the "Settings" tab. - Select the theme you want from the "*Workbench: Color Theme" setting menu (you will find the Theia themes in this menu).
- Close the Preferences tab by clicking its X icon.
But the non-high contrast Theia themes are not supported by Arduino (just the same as any other 3rd party theme), so it is certainly reasonable to look for an external 3rd party theme, which you might like even more than the Theia themes.
Nice! It is confusing that the built-in extraction utility on Windows doesn't recognize it as such.
A funny thing, I have two themes installed, but only one of those is visible in the prefs.

It's the snippets plugin. No errors in the log.
That is not a theme. The menu will only list themes. It will not list other types of extensions that you have installed.
