Hi.
I'm new to this group. I have a question about a thermocouple.
I am working on a project, where I study the temperature dependence of the materials. This consists in checking the temperature inside an electric oven. the thermocouple in the oven is type R. I connected an R type thermocouple to a MAX6675 module and it shows the wrong temperatures when I connect to the Arduino. At low values, it works well, but after the temperature starts to rise, the value it displays on the lcd increases very slowly. The temperature measured inside the oven with a thermometer is relatively high compared to what is displayed on the LCD. How can i fix this?

MAX6675 is for a K type (Chromel / Alumel) TC, if you are connecting an R type (Platinum / Rhodium), of course the reading will be wrong.

Hi,
Try this module.
At 1000 °C the type K T/C will generate 4 x what a type R will generate. Clearly in between it will be closer.
I would get a type K thermocouple.
Just to be sure
- What colors are the wire on your thermocouple?
- How close to the oven is your Max 6675?
Or get a MAX31855R which works with an R-Type thermocouple.
