Thought Controlled wheel-chair

Hello!
I am interested in using the Neuro-sky brainwave sensor to integrate with an arduino uno and control a wheel-chair using Hc-05 Bluetooth module for data reception from neurosky.
The wheel chair can be controlled using a relay.
Please do help me with a code and the steps to calibrate and set-up the system.
I have gone through the internet but din't find it any user-friendly.
Thanks.

Hi,

What is your electronics, programming, arduino, hardware experience?

This project will require all those skills.

Tom.....

I would offer that you need to start with your strenghts.

you want to :

-integrate a bluetooth headset to an arduino
-have arduino read values from headset and turn relays on and off.

I would offer that if you use LED's in stead of relays, you should be able to get a feel for how to integrate the headset to the arduino.

once you can 'think' and turn on the LED you want, you are ready to have others try it. in order to get some feel for how others think.

I would go so far as to say that if you developed a PAC-MAN game that uses this headset, i would be great training on using your unit for a wheel chair.

not sure how many degrees you have in electronics and software.

but, if you take it one thought at a time, you could get this to work.

The current state of brain wave anailisis in no way is up to controlling a wheelchair.

Youtube shows 4,550 results for "brain controlled wheelchair." The top few results are 5-6 years old. There aren't older ones because Youtube hasn't existed for that long. I call this invention "older than Facebook."

This is a consumer product now. It may not be as reliable and universal as a joystick but "in no way" is wrong.

Hi,
Stephen Hawking hasn't got one yet, and he would be the first if possible.
I know that he has been doing tests for someone that is attempting this.

Off the shelf monitoring gear is available, its the interpretation of that info that is the problem I gather.

It may be possible to get simple single action system going, goodluck with full wheelchair.

Lot of work and time.

What type of output does the sensor have?

It gives a series of 16 bits of data.

I am just interested in making the wheelchair move ahead or stop.
Nothing much at this stage.

Thanks,
Any code would help.

He does not have an Arduino either. does the rest of your logic work ?
I guess the simple fact that people around the planet are making them does not really count?

The Neuro-sky brainwave sensor is a toy.

Look at the research photos and see the difference in brain wave sensors.

While it is fine to play about trying to control a game, a wheel chair can crash into things if it is not stopped in time.

But Mike, I saw a movie once where Clint Eastwood fired missiles from an advanced fighter jet by just thinking in Russian. 'course he had to remember to think in Russian for it to work,,, But if Hollywood says it's true, then it has got to be so!!!

I guess if you did it with an Arduino, you'ld have to think in Italian??

Note: no offense intended to Russian or Italian nationals, though I could care less about the Russians.....

Nooo!!! I was thinking DON'T drive over the cliff! :o

Use the forum search box in the upper right of this page and search for wheel chair for previous discussions.

the prospector bought an old pack mule.
the used-mule dealer said it was trained by a evangelical priest.
say 'Dear Lord' to make him go and 'Amen' to get him to stop.
about half way up, the trail was washed out.....
the prospector pulled on the reighs... no luck...
yelled Whoow, and Stop,,,, no luck,
at the last second, he rememvered, and screamed AMEN!
and the mule stopped at the very edge.
the prospector looked at the distance they might have fallen and said
dear lord that is a long drop.
