Two leds with two functions

I would like to set up a nano to have one led always on and a second led fading in and out at the same time. Is this possible or would I save myself a considerable headache if I just coded one Nano for one function a second Nano for the other function and stack them?

That is easy to do with a single Nano.

The demo Several Things at a Time operates 3 LEDs at different rates,

The led that stays on, turn it on in void setup() and leave it on, it will stay on unless power goes down.

The other led, you can use delay() but ....

when you know enough C (Arduino) that the millis timing threads (like Robins' or the one at the top of the Programming Questions section or the Nick Gammon tutorials in my sig space or even the Arduino Example BlinkWithoutDelay) don't look undecipherable then get into that, it's a key to "doing many things at the same time".
