Unable to connect my digispark Attiny85 to arduino IDE

I have never posted to this forum so please bare with me. I am in a real pickle. I had a project that requires a small MCU and I had a bunch of the Digispark ATtiny85's and i decided to use them. I thought installing them looked easy but NO!!!!! Anyway I went through several tutorials that showed me how to install the correct board in the Board Manager/How to select this board in the sketch/and how to verify the program. This is where it all goes south.

I am using a MAC running 10.15.7 (Catalina) by the way.

I get this message and I don't know how to get out of this jamb.

fork/exec /Users/Gnather/Library/Arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/avr-gcc/4.8.1-arduino5/bin/avr-g++: bad CPU type in executable

Compilation error: fork/exec /Users/Gnather/Library/Arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/avr-gcc/4.8.1-arduino5/bin/avr-g++: bad CPU type in executable..

It also shows that the ATtiny is not connected but the way I read the tutorials the programming should ask for it to be connected at a certain time

I'm not all that savy when it comes to faults so If you might kindly give me some help I would appreciate it. Also I have been using Arduino products for over a decade and Im familiar with them
but have only just got to the ATtiny recently and don't really understand its ins and out.

Anything would be nice. So TIA

Did you go through this Arduino Support page?

yes i have now read the help article but have not had a chance to try out the solution. I have been busy with taxes...end of the year you know. anyway I will get back with you about the solution they provided. Also my processor is not silicon its an 2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5. So, I am going to choose the second step rather than the first....Figure Ill need Rosetta to get this working. Oddly enough (not really) it works fine on my Windows 10 machine. But I hate dealing with PC file hierarchy...it just sucks IMHO. :smirk:

Try linux. I have liberated many friends with Live Linux (bootable USB session with option to install permanently).

Try a Linux flavor:
