I have searched and can't find a solution to my issue.
The problem is the Arduino Uno shows up in Windows Device Manager with com8. But the com port is not showing in the IDE, TOOLS/PORT is greyed out.
This is new to me PC running Win10pro as this Arduino works on my old PC.
Hate to be that guy, but did you try rebooting the PC?
Yeah first thing I did.
I have fixed the issue. I downloaded the latest IDE and that is communicating with the Uno
I should have done that in the first place before posting here sorry......
I hope you understand the latest IDE had nothing to do with your problem, if it did there would be thousands of complaints. The reason I switched to Mac is to get away from Device Manager.
I understand that because the old IDE works on my other Win10 PC I suspect it was security settings somewhere.
Maybe, but that is Windows, not the IDE causing the problem. SOOOOO glad I switched to Mac.
