i have a problem in uploading the sketch

Select the port of your Arduino from the Tools > Port menu. If that menu is grayed out or the port of your Arduino board is not shown then one of the following may be the cause:

  • You may need to install the driver for the USB-serial chip on your Arduino. Determine which chip is used on your Arduino and install the driver.
  • You may be using a charge-only or defective USB cable. Test your cable on another device to confirm that it works for data.
  • Using a USB 3.0 port on your computer may cause problems. Try a USB 2.0 port or use a USB 2.0 hub plugged into your USB 3.0 port.

// this is my error

@mike12345

Are you using USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports and cables as Arduinos can be very hit and miss with USB 3.0 ?

Changing cables and ports is always a first stop in troubleshooting.

pert:
Please do this:

  • File > Preferences > Show verbose output during: > compilation (uncheck) > upload (check) > OK
  • Sketch > Upload
  • After the upload fails you'll see a button on the right side of the orange bar "Copy error messages". Click that button.
  • Paste the error messages in a reply here USING CODE TAGS (</> button on the toolbar).

it'll be great if i could get some help too

Incorrect port selected. Select a port from tools -> port menu; it's got COM4 selected (which presumably you used previously), but it's saying that there is no COM4. Windows will often assign a different port number depending on which USB port a device is plugged into (and occasionally for no apparent reason), so you just need to select the correct port.

Select the COM port of your Nano from the Arduino IDE's Tools > Port menu.

If you don’t know which port is your Arduino, you can find it like this:

  • Unplug your Arduino board from the computer.
  • Tools > Port
  • Note the ports, if any, listed in the menu.
  • Close the Tools menu
  • Plug your Arduino board into the computer.
  • Tools > Port - The new port listed in the menu is your Arduino board.

You need to select the port of your Arduino board from the Tools > Port menu. If you find multiple ports in the menu and don't know which is the Arduino, Try this:

  • With the Arduino board unplugged from the USB open the Tools > Port menu and note the listed ports. If the Port menu is gray and disabled then that means there are no ports available.
  • Close the Tools > Port menu.
  • Plug in the USB cable on the Arduino board
  • Wait a little while for the Arduino board to connect
  • Open Tools > Port, the new port on the list is your Arduino board. In some cases it will have the name of the board next to the port name but this doesn't happen with all boards. If the Port menu is gray and disabled then that means your Arduino board didn't install correctly. You may need to install a driver.
  • Select your Arduino's port from the menu.
