hello guys
i am new to arduino and i have an uno of my own .
i have followed many websites and came across the FTDI and USB To Serial Communication Chips .
i want to create an arduino out of my old AVR'S Which are ATMEL [ATMega8] .
i have made the circuit and have bootloaded the chip sucessfully with the arduino NG or older w/ atmega8 bootloader using arduino as isp .
now as i have to program the chip how do i do that if i take out the chip from uno and use the tx and rx pins for communication then there is an error stating that not in sync ......................
i have came across another USB To Serial Communication chip available on the website
http://robokits.co.in/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=267
This chip is used in the cable that can be used to program the arduino so can i use it and how and :-
can i use this to program the arduno i made as it converts the usb to 5 volts ttl tx and rx .?

Yes.
Don't forget the driver. Board will be easier to use as it breaks out DTR for you for software reset. Connect thru a 0.1uF to reset pin, with 10K pullup to Vcc.
