USB2SERIAL and baudrate?

I've tried to send some data at 300 Baud using the USB2SERIAL http://arduino.cc/en/Main/USBSerial and a terminal program set to 300 baud 8N1. When I monitor the TX pin the bit rate is 777 bits/s. Is there a way to get 300 baud output from the USB2SERIAL TX pin?
