I have no idea what section to post this under, but what are the titles that are displayed after usernames? What do they mean? What is their use?
Under your forum profile, they are known as badges.
You can select some badges to appear next to your username. Set under preferences.
@red_car
Ah sorry. I only called it what the website called it, didn't realize the website was wrong .
But what's the point of even having them??
Basically nothing.
@sterretje
What do they mean?
Although, when I see someone with Karma: 1500+
... it's a good indication they know what they are talking about. 1500 Karma means 1500 posts that someone has liked.
They are famous programmers, physicists, and CS engineers
Yours is Admiral Grace Hooper, famous for actually finding a bug (moth) in the system, amongst many other achievements.
@er_name_not_found
But what's the point? It's horribly inaccurate, as I am NOT that clever.
As you participate more in the forum, they go up. Or up as defined by someone. Mine is currently Faraday
They are part of a badge system. It's just a little gimmick that keeps a few more users interested.
