Hey everyone, I really need help on this. I need to create an automated spotlight which follows a subject automatically. Ideally, the stepper motor will be used to mount the spotlight and then tracking would have to be added for the spotlight to follow a subject on stage. Will really appreciate help on this topic. How heavy is the spotlight ?
Won't you need 2 motors so that the spotlight can be moved in 2 axes ?
Have you any idea how the system would track the moving target ?
I can't help feeling that this is not the job for an Arduino
What sort of sensors do you have in mind to determine the subject position, and whether the spotlight is on the subject?
That is the difficult part, and it is not an Arduino problem.
Moving the topic to the relevant forum section would be ideal, thanks. The spotlight would literally be a small torch taped to the stepper motor as it is a small scale university project. We are only dealing with x axis in this project just for the horizontal movement of the subject. Tracking bit I am also unsure about hence need help in figuring this out. Thank you!

As this is a University project, possibly part of a degree or other qualification, are you allowed to pay someone to help you ?
Have you mounted the stepper motor so the frame cannot move as the rotator part is rotated? Do you have the power supply available and the motor controller selected?
