Need to play an audio file on loop which i plan to do with a void, the problem is that I cant seem to find a speaker with integrated amplifier. When I look for speakers with amps all I get are $200+ huge speakers. Now, I basically have 0 knowledge about audio hardware. So a little help on finding an appropriate speaker which is also on the economic side would be great.
Hi @cesarvb. You can buy speakers with built-in amplifier for much cheaper than $200. The ones I am talking about have a 3.5 mm phono plug for the audio input and a USB cable for the power input to the amplifier(the USB cable is only for power, not data).
It seems the best way to find them on the online marketplaces is with a search for the keywords: computer speakers
.
For example, you can find some in these search results:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=computer+speakers+powered&s=price-asc-rank
Of course there are many irrelevant listings at the links above so you would need to sift through them to find the right items for a fair price.
I bought some of the cheapest available from the Chinese sellers on eBay years back. The sound quality is not excellent, but it is good enough that I do use them regularly on my laptop computer.
Thanks for the answer, after reading it, I went looking into this and also found out about the terms "active" and "passive" speaker. It seems that most pc speakers are active speakers due to them having both an audio and power cable. It seems like any active speaker is by definition a speaker with built in amplifier. I was about to buy a pair of cheap speakers for this project + my pc setup, but I remembered that my Echo Dot 4th gen might be one, a quick google search and copilot chat told me that in fact, it is. So one could say that any echo dot device with a jack could be use as a speaker for the GIGA. Will buy a cable and confirm whenever I can in this post. Thanks, again.
You are welcome. I'm glad you were able to discover that you already had a usable speaker on hand!

Per
