Hello, in the case of a robot project, i would need a very large range radio transmition. I'm struggeling to find any good modules on internet. I have a 100€ budget and i don't have any power limit. Could someone help me find something like this ?
Thanks in advance!
If you mean radio, you very definitely do have a power limit, as well as band limits and transmission time limits, as defined by your country's laws.
Please define what you mean by "long range" and explain the terrain. Clear line of sight is generally required for license free radio applications.
please explain how much data you want to transmit.
a few switchings on / off once every few hours?
50 bytes once every 10 seconds?
kilobytes permanently 24/7?
Best thing is to describe what you really want to do
best regards Stefan
If such a system was available, you would have found hundreds by now. Any robot project must be either wired or have a feedback communication system to ensure the control knows what the robot is doing. Then there is the safety aspect of remote operation.
Please explain why you dont have a power limit.
If you really did not have a power limit you could use an Arduino to communicate with the Voyager spacecraft which are currently maybe 23 Billion Km from Earth.
Whilst you might have an idea what a 'very large range radio transmition' is the forum does not have a clue.
Do you mean 10m, 1,000m or 23 Billion Km ?
Please describe the actual project.
Research LoRa
Thanks y'all for your anwsers! Actually, this would be for something like maybe a 1000 Km range. And for the power, i just meant that i could use external power or other things to power the transimmiter. This project's purpose is to control from far away (like 1000 km away) little rovers with VR headset. also , bandwith (I think it's the word) is also something i would need, like 100Mb/s.
For long-range radio transmission in a robot project, try LoRa , XBee , or FSK modules. Budget is 100€ . Actual range depends on the environment, so test where you'll be operating the robot.
so the environnement would start from a city, and cross a lot of any environnement . Also, i don't very know a lot about xBee. (like the range of the cost)
I suggest to research how that might be accomplished with radio, over 1000 km.
Maybe with satellites ?
How would you build and launch a satellite with a budget of 100 euros ?
Speak to Elon Musk about Starlink;
An internet connection if you can afford the latency.
Why control a rover(s) from such a long distance ?
Sounds suspicious.
Don't worry, nothing sus
Yeah but what about places where therer is a bad internet connection / Inexistent ?

Hello leofr
Welcome to the worldbest Arduino forum ever.
My standard recommendation in the case of radio connections:
Take some time and visit your local radio amatuer club to discuss your project requirements in detail.
Have a nice day and enjoy coding in C++.
your budget and direct connection over a distance of 1000 km with 100 MBit/s
Exclude each other!
For $100 you can have a lora-modul that will be able to transmit 0,002 MBit/s over a distance of maybe 50 km in case of sender and receiver have a
line of sight
A distance of 1000 km with a direct link would require a 10 MILLION Watt transmitter which will cost you 100 million dollars. As soon as you start buying these components or latest if you start testing this device the secret service of your country will show up and throw you into prison!
Elon Musk Starlink might work but you will pay 100$ per day for a bandwith of 100 MBit/s
Still the communication-device will cost you 1000$ dollar.
You should see this project as a dream that stays a dream.
The only thing that has a chance to work at low cost is using an internet-connection and a WiFi-network on the robots end.
If you have a different project post the basic idea. Then experienced users can say their opinion if it is realistic on a low budget.
