Volume Control for Separate Speakers?

Hello,

I've attached a diagram of this project.
The idea is for a natural history museum exhibit. If possible I'd like to use an Arduino to achieve this.

There would be a button that would start a bird song playing. This bird has two vocal cords that work simultaneously.
The visitor could control the volume from two knobs (one for each part of the bird song) to hear the differences. I was thinking it'd be easy with a Right and Left speaker but can't figure out where to begin.

I am new to using Arduino and coding so any help would be appreciated. How would this work with coding and wiring?

Thanks,
Rachel

What part does the Arduino play in this?

I'm guessing the Arduino plays some part in starting the MP3 player playing the sounds. Maybe it even drives a couple of digital pots so there won't be a physical pot that the public touches (too easily smashed = use "arcade" buttons that are almost impossible to destroy.)

It doesn't have to use an Arduino, I just figured there would be a way to play the song off of it and attach buttons to it? The public will only have access to the buttons and knobs.
