Water meter pulse counter

Hi,

I have a water meter (pictures below) i want to digitalize it. i want to create a board that read pulses and show the water flow on whatever app or integration i'll make

i just found about reed switches, and that could be possible to get pulses from the meter, but i don't know what to use and how to use the holes in the meter to accomplish that

ps: that is a gov meter so of course no datasheets or anyone to ask about the meter

Have you contacted the manufacturer, whose name is clearly visible at the top of the window. Maybe MW604 is some kind of model number

raspberry pi with camera and digit recognition software

Yes. I would expect anything that physically touches the meter to make the person reading it very suspicious indeed.

I am sure you are allowed to install second(digital) meter next(after) to first.

it's sealed

Indeed, but even if the OP has got probes from the manufacturer in those threaded holes on the face, I would expect the meter reader to have a conniption whether they're legitimate or not. I like your idea of a secondary meter much better.
