Web Editor Removed Sketch Code

Hi

I have been using the web editor tonight when in the middle of an upload of a sketch the web editor/browser decided to auto refresh(might be due to the auto save feature). Anyway when refresh was complete i was horrified to see all my .ino code has disappeared from tab. The other Tabs still contain all the code. Please can you advise if i can recover this data?

A note from one of the Arduino team members on the last thread reporting a lost sketch:

matteosuppo:
Please, when something like this happens, write to support@arduino.cc with the url of the sketch, so that we may verify what happened

Also add the SHARE URL to your post as it gets them to the sketch in question a little quicker.
Use the chainlink option for that.

Thanks Bob

Thanks in advance.

Dont delete the sketch and when they get back in on Monday they will probably take a look at it.

Hi
Does anyone know how.long it normally take the Arduino support team to respond? I lost my code again, it was eaten along with my backup copy, and I emailed arduino last Friday. Still had no reply since then.

No chance today Gav.
They are back tomorrow.

Out of curiosity were the two sketches similar named ?
Chasing my own lead on the AWOL sketches and found it more prevalent with closely similar named sketches where the first parts of the sketch name are the same eg. test_sketch_01 and test_sketch_02.

Not sure if its the same issue we see or just another thing.

BTW support@ does not always respond...Sometimes they just fix things but forget to tell anyone LOL.

Hi ballscrewbob.

Yes they were named the same apart from the backup version also had "copy" at the end of the file name.
I lost the code from the working copy and managed to restore from the backup but now both are gone I am screwed.

Thinking the best way forward now is to keep an offline copy if I get my code restored.

Thanks gav.

I know they are working hard on this issue and every little extra information could be a clue as to the cause.
It seems totally random given the huge user base.

Bob.
