Wemos Lolin esp32-C3 pico

Hey all. I have this microcontroller I am using on a project: C3 pico — WEMOS documentation
I really like it. I just bought a 600mAh Lipo battery to see how well it would run on battery and, well, it doesn't. I have the battery plugged in and the connector fits well, but there is a battery charging light on the board and it does not come on. When I unplug the usb c...nothing...power goes off. So I am starting to think I'm a moron. Is there something in the software I need to to tell it to "use battery?" How about connections. There is a VBAT pin, but I thought that is for reading the battery voltage. Is there a jumper somewhere?

Any help is appreciated.

Make sure that the polarity of your battery matches that of the board. As you can see, the positive has to be on the left:

Some batteries will have the polarity the opposite way.

You should not have to tell it to use battery. It should run off the battery all by itself when not powered by usb. When you plug in the USB is the board recognized? Were you able to upload a WS2812b blink sketch to the board?

What do you mean, power goes off? I thought you said that power wasn't on when you plugged in the battery?

o.k....my battery is the opposite. You would think that should be standardized...anyway...works great now....
