What are good Mosfets to use with an arduino??

I have an Arduino mega 2560 and need help to find out what mosfets (N or P Type) are the best to use with it. I am wanting to use voltages from 3 to 24v to a max of 2A. Thanks.

Browse digikey, use the filtering:
N-channel mosfet (or p-channel)
Logic level
thru hole
sort the resulting list by price.
scan down the list looking for Low Rds, Low Input gate capacitance, at the price point you want, that can handle the current/voltage you want.

Lots of good reading here:
Click on Advanced Search in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Search for MOS FET

ok cool thanks

a) You don't need P type.

b) You don't say what you're driving, or if you need to PWM it. You may need additional circuitry

Actually i was only wanting to know what was a good Mosfet to use is in general
Anyway i went through my stuff and found a couple IRFZ44N Power MOSFET 49A 12V, they work great with 12v or less.

(Again the words "work great" appear...)

Sorry to burst the bubble of happiness but Arduinos don't really work great with MOSFETs that have an 'F' in their name.

Arduinos prefer "Logic Level" MOSFETs like the IRLZ44 (note the 'L' in the name).

The trick is to look at the value for "RDS(on)".

The IRFZ44 quotes a value at 10V: http://www.vishay.com/docs/91291/91291.pdf
The IRFL44 quotes a value at 5V: http://www.vishay.com/docs/91328/91328.pdf

(Right at the top in the "product summary")

Ok i never noticed that but obviously that is something that is going to change
Thanks
Also are there any cheap IRLZ44 Mosfets? because the only ones i can find are $6 Min or is there any way to use IRFZ44 Mosfets in a better way with the arduino?

Try something like the IRL540. They're quite popular so I'm guessing they're cheap...

IRL540 are kinda pricey

A quick digikey search

and scanning the list comes with this as what I would consider a very good part - low cost, low Rds, low gate capacitance, logic level gate.

P-channel - good for high side switching & muxing common anode displays:

Best tradeoff of low cost logic level, low-ish Rds, low gate capacitance for fast switching:

Sparkfun has some:
