Hello, there is a project called "canchecked" that brings the odb2 information in the car to a tft screen. I think a powerful card is needed for such a project. What do you think it uses? Or has anyone ever checked if I have one?
Without a schematic and a link to the technical information I cannot even take a SWAG with the information provided. There are possible a thousand or more processors over many families 8, 16, 32 and 64 bit that could possibly do what they are doing.
If all it's doing is comms on CAN, some simple processing and display on a screen, it would not take a very powerful CPU. I had a look but didn't find a tear down for this product. As these cost $100s, probably no one feels like taking one apart just to see what's inside.
Is this just curiosity or are you thinking of rolling your own?
I want to develop such a project but I wonder if the ESP32 card will heat up with these graphics and on the other hand, this product costs 600 euros and in the country I live in, there is a 30 euro limit and it requires too much tax, so I can't buy it.
Most probably you pay this price is not for a "super power controller', but because making this works means a lot of work of deciphering commercial obd2 protocols.
