What route should I take for longest reliable wireless control?

Let's keep it simple. Let's take a car relay module on/off switch as the example we're trying to control.

What route is the most reliable route with the longest range for transmitting and receiving that on and off signal. I'm looking for the best route available.

Cellular modems.

Depends on where the car (as transmitter) and the reciever is located and you did not say.

Landon,

Do you mean some sort of 4G LTE SIM card module or some kind of AirLink type service?

srnet,

The car would be receiving the signal and we want to figure out the highest reliable range to transmit that signal.

I wonder how they transmit and receive signals for trucks that are operated remotely. I saw a smart tech company that had a demo with a truck driver operating a truck from a desk somewhere. I would imagine whatever their using has to be extremely reliable.

Yes, I guess so. I've worked on some remote control locomotives that use them.
Setting them up and coding it is completely over my head though.

That would be Worldwide, use satellite modems.

Any form of mobile phone based system would be classed as 'unreliable' since it would only work in areas where there is coverage.

I think you should interpret the answers you have received so far as an indication that your question needs a lot of improvement.

  • What range do you need? Metres, kilometres, tens of kilometers?
  • What do you want to control - describe the whole project?
  • How often does the data need to be updated?
  • How much latency is acceptable?
  • Do you need two-way communication?
  • And anything else you know about your project that you have not told us.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.

Remote controlled truck in mines use a relay of aerials down the tunnel.

What range do you want and what is the application?
What sort of comms speed do you want?

Thanks.. Tom..
