I'm really stuck. For my actual project, I need some pull-up and -down resistors, preferably SMD. I can't find any (except for some non-SMD on ebay), but I guess I make some basic mistake. Is there any other word for it, or where do you buy them? I'm from Switzerland, but often there is not much shipping cost from the US or Hong Kong.
Sure Electronics has a nice variety pack of 1206 or 0805 resistors (they also sell nice storage boxes to organize them). If you're just looking for specific values then check Farnell
Your comments about your difficulty seems strange. Perhaps your under the impression that pull-up or pull-down resistors are some special kind or form of resistors? Because they are not special, just regular old resistors. And you would select them as you would any resistor required, by ohm value, wattage dissipation, package form desired, possibly tolerance value. Finding and purchasing resistors has to be among the easiest of electronic components to procure I would think?

Oh my god! Yes, I thought they are some special kind of resistors. Please bury this thread, this is awkward
So sorry for you, but it will live on in electronic form, safely stored in a cloud called the internet, such that even your10th generation decedents will continue to pretend that they are not really related to you.
Going back to buckets of steam, left handed spanners and... Oh yeah, Spotted Paint... When I started in electronics I got myself a job after school (1959) sweeping the floor and testing tubes in table radios in the neighborhood TV shop (I wasn't big enough to work on the television sets. This was before color tv was generally available... The "service Manager" wanted to have a small joke at my expense... and he sent me out for Spotted Paint. Not being completely naive... I didn't refuse the request as impossible... I decided to turn the tables on him. There was a company called "Zolatone" that sold a mixture of latex and oil based paint. This stuff "Spotted" when applied via a regular aerosol can... The Guy had to pay for it as he had asked me to buy it... It was about $9.00 a can at a time when black licorice sticks were 5 for a penny. He took it out of my hide in small increments, as a matter of fact I ran into him about 15 years later and he still hadn't forgotten the incident or his displeasure with me.
While we're looking for things, can anyone tell me where to get about $5 worth of elbow grease? Someone said I needed them for my tough woodworking project.
In the oil field one of the common ones in to get someone to drain the moon pool.
For those of you not familiar... many of the vessels used for supplies or work in the oil and gas industry have a moon pool in the center of the boat to launch and recover items. This is essentially just a through hole in the boat, a typical joke for a new guy is to tie a 5 gallon bucket to a rope and advise them that the moon pool is just a few inches higher than it should be and it has to be bailed out by hand.
