Why when I check a post's "ignore this post" it still returns

Some posts just don't interest me or I have nothing to contribute. When I check the "ignore this post" (or similar text I can't recall) when the post gets another response it pops back in "unread".

Am I misunderstanding the ignore option?

Please be a more specific with terms - there is no option for "ignoring" post on the forum. Could you show a screenshot with it?

It seems to only be available when there is one post in "unread".

I have no idea why you can select a topic; just like @JohnRob I do not have a checkbox in front of the topic. Using Firefox in case it matters

In my scenario, a dismiss simply removes all unread topics from the list
