Will the sim808 (2G) SMS functionality live past the 2G sunset?

I'm pretty certain I know the answer to this question, but have to ask anyway (due to financial investment in devices). I have a device with a sim808 (2G) chip in it using T-Mobile, which is due to sunset 2G on 2020-12-31.

I only care about plain SMS so is there may be a chance it'll keep working? I have the feeling the answer is no, because the 2G spectrum will be re-allocated for 5G. I'm guessing my sim808 chip will simply not connect to the network at all.
