Would like to build a plant irrigation system

Design Criteria
20 solenoid-valve controlled drip irrigation tubes
24-7 programable control
Indoor Enclosure for control circuits

I have little arduino experience (built 1 robot kit)

  1. What do I need ? (what kind of power supply circuit?
  2. Do I need relays to control the solenoids or should I use Mosfets ? (and if so, which ones?)
  3. What kind of solenoids should I use ?
  4. Do I need fuses ?
  5. What additional modules do I need for the time control of the solenoids ?
  6. Should I use Terminal blocks ? and if so which ones do you recommend ?
